FC Stokelona continues with the acquisition of Tello, I see!

Definitely should have kept Steele in the team, may have ended up saving the two shots that Raya couldn't.

New GK looks decent enough though, especially for free.

You and Redknapp69 may be right about Steele but you may also be wrong. If a goalkeeper has a dip in form it could help to replace him if his backup is good enough. In the past I did not use to do that and the result was sometimes disastrous!

TBH - I usually sub anyone with a "5" rating but usually I give them 10 mins from half time to improve - others they are whipped off the park!

Marshall scores to give Rovers a much-needed victory over Bournemouth

On Saturday 17th November we played AFC Bournemouth in front of a crowd of 30,448.

Bournemouth currently reside near the bottom of the Premier League table and after the deception at the Britannia Stadium we managed to defeat our opponents with the late decider scored by our captain.

We played well as a team and we should have scored more goals. After all, goals come so much easier than in previous seasons. But today we struggled to score again. Of course we do miss the creativity and the superb passing of the injured Pedro Chirivella, but even so...

There were several attempts on goal by Fekir, Lens and Grimes and even by Henley but for the longest time there were no goals until the 76th minute when Flanagan dispossessed Anderson with a superb sliding tackle and Clasie moved the ball forward to Fekir, who turned nicely on the ball and hit it ahead of Marshall in the area. And our captain headed the ball towards goal and found the net! A huge relief, because we need the points!!

A good team effort and a well-deserved win but we did pick up three more yellow cards. And for the first time this season Marshall was named Man-of-the-Match.
    Spoiler!

A very necessary win to stay in the race for European football!

Our next opponents will be Newcastle United in the EFL Cup 4th Round at Ewood Park on Wednesday.

That's back to the Blackburn we have come to know. Scraping for a narrow win and being tight at the back. A very solid team performance.

Yeah, you're right, but it was bad luck. We outplayed them.

What do you guys mean? We already signed a goalkeeper (Ferenc László) with a CA of 155 and a PA of 185 on a free transfer!
But, yes, we have a shortlist (and no money) so you never know.
    Spoiler!

Rovers eliminate Newcastle from EFL Cup

On Wednesday 21st November we played Newcastle United in the EFL Cup 4th Round in front of a crowd of 15,043 and we eliminated the Magpies to qualify for the EFL Cup Quarter Finals!

It was good to play our midweek EFL Cup match at Ewood Park. After having beaten West Bromwich Albion and Bournemouth confidence has built up a lot - and that showed! Our whole team, including Matt Grimes, put up a great fight against the Magpies and although there were no goals in the somewhat uneventful first period, we outplayed them right after the break.

With 48 minutes on the clock Besic came forward and blasted the ball towards the top corner and scored, only it was ruled out because Lens was offside. But barely two minutes later Flanagan sent the ball into the area for Fekir who held up the ball and tried to beat Vidal. Vidal then took away the legs of Fekir and a penalty was awarded! The Newcastle players protested furiously but to no avail. And so Lens stepped up to take the spot kick and calmly scored the penalty!

And that was not all. Three minutes later Grimes turned Olson and used his skill to go past Mbemba and rifled the ball in low with his right and scored a lovely strike! And so we were suddenly two goals up and the game seemed over.

However, Newcastle were not defeated yet. Pérez hit a savage right-footed shot and scored his first goal of the season to give our opponents a lifeline. And Olson almost made matters worse when he took the ball on the bounce and shot, but fortunately Steele made a fingertip save to divert the ball wide. And with two minutes remaining Ritchie volleyed from long range, but he scooped the ball well over the crossbar and so we avoided the necessity of a replay and won the match.

Besic was named Man-of-the-Match. Clasie was superb and Grimes did remarkably very well replacing the injured Pedro Chirivella.
    Spoiler!

Good win and Watford away opens up a great chance to progress to the semi final. Everyone appears to be playing well over the last few games. Lets hope you can keep that up as it is a tough set of fixtures coming up.

Good win indeed - propoer cup tie but you certainly deserve to go through

15k watching though - Maybe it was on TV!

As Kingsely said - good QF draw as well but tough 4 league games coming up. Beating Swans would be useful as they have 2 games in hand on you but only a few places behind

Solid home victory! Possibly could have been a chance to play some fringe players, especially Duelund.

Swansea vs Rovers: A fair 2-2 draw at the Liberty Stadium

On Sunday 25th November we played Swansea at the Liberty Stadium. It was quite a match and it ended in a fair 2-2 draw which both teams were content with - but also disappointed...

From the start Swansea tried to get men forward to support the attack, but our central defenders marked Bastón particularly well and kept him off our area so that the Swansea striker never had a decent chance to score. Having said that, Besic, Flanagan and Nyambe all picked up early yellow cards.

But then it was Swansea's left defender, Greg Cunningham who scored the opener! Bastón may have been invisible but Cunningham suddenly had plenty of space and he found the net with a fierce long shot!

The match was in perfect balance, though, and just before the break Besic passed the ball forward to Clasie who continued with his run into the box and drove the ball at goal and scored the equaliser at the best possible time!

Encouraged by Clasie's goal we started the second half well and it was Fekir who received the ball from Marshall, hit a fierce shot and scored our second goal!

But Swans were not beaten yet and although our defenders did well to not give Engvall, who had replaced Bastón, much chance either, it was once more Greg Cunningham who came forward when Pereira took a corner and the defender had the beating in the air of Henley and headed the ball to score his second goal of the day!

Both teams needed a win and used the remaining time to try and score a third goal, but the goalkeepers showed safe hands and the game ended in a more than reasonable 2-2 draw.

Besic collected his fifth yellow card so he will be banned for our next match against Chelsea. Clasie was named Man-of-the-Match again.
    Spoiler!

We are still in sixth place, but we do have to play Chelsea next and Besic is banned for that match!

Tough match next without your best player.

Fellaini and Lingaard in the Swansea side !

Must be satisfied with the point but you will need to defend better to get anything from Chelsea, and stay in contact with the leaders.

Swansea have a superb team (and two games in hand as well)!
Chelsea will be a huge challenge without Besic.

Yes, Besic will be sorely missed. Chalobah would normally replace him. Or perhaps Aké.
Or Clasie who might in fact be the better choice, but then Clasie would be missed as central midfielder.
At least Chirivella will be back from his injury.
