Huge blow on Aguero but TBH I’m not sure how much he has contributed so far this season

Any release clause in for Di Bari? Any clubs interested in him?
Di Bari has a long-term contract and no release clause. More info about him, his contract, etc. later.

    Blackburn Rovers vs Bolton Wanderers

According to our scouts Bolton Wanderers have a strong team and they prefer an attacking formation. They have been moderately successful so far this season, but on the other hand they have only scored nine goals in thirteen Premier League matches!

For this game Bolton Wanderers have decided to start with a 4-1-3-2 formation. Perhaps they hope to score with two strikers? But it will weaken their midfield, so we should be able to exploit that!

We will play with our best possible lineup. That is to say, Praet will play as attacking midfielder behind Di Bari, because of Agero's injury. However, that does not weaken our team because Praet has been playing so well this season.

A forward line consisting of Di Bari, Praet, Surez and Mahrez is about as good as it gets at Ewood Park!

Glad Di Bari has no clause!

Solid win there, especially away from home and a 2 goal advantage for leg 2

Bit of youth potential in that Bolton team but should be a relatively easy win IMO

    Rovers unstoppable

On Sunday 28th November we played Bolton Wanderers in front of a near-capacity crowd of 39,954 and once again we ended up playing against ten men and once again we won the game without much difficulty.

However, we did lose another key player to injury!

The game had a slow start. We were the attacking team and Surez, Di Bari and Mahrez all attempted shots on goal but they failed to find the net. Now we did not take too many risks although Mahrez did go in hard on Powell, but fortunately for us the referee turned down the penalty appeal.

But then Praet picked up a knock and he came off the field injured! We brought on Duelund who is always more than eager to get game time again, but this does mean that both Agero and Praet will now be unavailable for some time.

For this particular match this hardly mattered, though. And certainly not after Dave Wilson headbutted Surez and was sent off! Barely two minutes later it was Surez himself who scored the opener with a fine strike after dribbling in style past De Roon.

Bolton were in a state of shock now and three minutes later Di Bari doubled our lead with the assist from Duelund!

In the second half we brought on Jordy Clasie for Besic and Clasie played very well again, but obviously the game had already been decided by those two goals and the three points were in the bag so there was hardly any need to play pressure football.

Denis Surez was named Man of the Match, but both Duelund and Clasie also played quite well. In fact, Clasie is somewhat of a revelation as defensive midfielder, which is just as well as Matic is not getting any younger.
    Spoiler!

And so our remarkable run continues as we get ready to play Dynamo Kiev at Ewood Park. We can rest some of our players for that return leg, but after that there will be another big challenge for us as we will face Man Utd at Old Trafford!

    Spoiler!

Our physios informed us that Dennis Praet will be out for three weeks, while Besic picked up his fifth yellow card, which is one card too many because he will now miss the match at Old Trafford!

I got it right! But damn you're dominating with this formation.

Missing Besic and Praet against Man Utd will be tough though!!

Oof, that old curse is rearing its ugly head with 2 players now missing along with Aguero!

Duelund stepped in well enough for Praet, hopefully he can repeat that at Man Utd?

    Blackburn Rovers vs Dynamo Kiev

For the return leg against Dynamo Kiev we have decided to rest both of our full-backs - Akpoguma and Wahlqvist - as well as Nemanja Matic.

Lszl will replace Steele again while Duelund will obviously start as attacking midfielder now that Praet and Agero are both injured.

Dynamo Kiev will play with their 5-3-1-1 formation again. They rely on their counters, but they will have to score at least twice, so we are not worried.

Solid if unspectacular v 10 men

The "invincibles" (I will use this term until you lose!) are marching towards the title!

Let's hope the backups can cover the injured guys

Mate, I would rest Di Bari.

This game is yours and you don't want to risk injuring him! He's far too important for the league for you!

Well, because Nyambe will be sold so we will have some money. Perhaps we will sell more players. But we have two good youth players and two players on loan who have not played a single match yet, so no need to sign others.

I know but if they would score an early goal....

And we already have to play without Agero and Praet.

    Rovers advance in Europa League

On Thursday 2nd December we played Dynamo Kiev in front of a crowd of 36,971 who did not seem to mind the drizzle and the cold as they showed up anyway even though we had already won the first leg at Kiev so convincingly (2-0).

And of course, we qualified for the next round even though we did not win the match.

Even with five subs or so we outplayed Kiev, but just like in the first leg we had considerable difficulty finding the net against our defensive opponents. In Kiev we did not score until the final match minutes and this time Mahrez, Duelund and Di Bari all fired shots at goal but Yurchenko played at the top of his form and so we failed to score until some ten minutes into the second half when Surez struck the ball on the half-volley and Yurchenko pushed it away only for Besic to smash the ball in low and score!

Less than ten minutes later Yarmolenko cancelled out Besic's opener. This goal may have given Dynamo Kiev a glimmer of hope, but we have a near-watertight defence and in the end it turned out to be their only shot on target!

We should have fairly easily won the match, but Mahrez and Di Bari especially were very unlucky today.
    Spoiler!

Everton also managed to qualify, but Man City and Man Utd were both eliminated from the Europa League which made our fans very happy.

The problem is that even though Matic was not playing, he still managed to pick up an injury and so he will be out for a month or so. And Clasie is banned for our next match. Finally injuries are beginning to pile up, just like they did in previous years.

Meanwhile, Sisto signed a contract with Newcastle United. We will receive a decent amount for our Danish winger who never broke through at Ewood Park. We have evidently paid too much for him but then again, sometimes you gamble and lose. But at least we no longer have to pay his salary after 1st January.

    Spoiler!

The problem with the injuries piling up though is that not only Praet and Agero are unavailable against Man Utd now but both of our defensive midfielders, Matic and Besic, as well! And our defensive midfielders have been the key to our success this year...

Nooooo, bad time for Matic to be injured when you've lost Besic (not Clasie?). Chalobah to step up?

    Manchester United vs Blackburn Rovers

This is another very important six-pointer and our scouts are impressed with the Man Utd side we will be facing at Old Trafford.

Now Pogba may be injured, but Man Utd have more than enough quality players and so they have just announced that they will play with two strikers instead of one. They made it no secret that they want to win this match!

We will play with our 'normal' 4-2-2-1-1 formation again, but nobody calls this a defensive formation anymore. At least, not as long as Di Bari is our striker!

Because both Besic and Matic are unvailable, Clasie and Chalobah will replace them as defensive midfielders. We have enough confidence in them. Still, we would be more than content with a goalless draw at Old Trafford.

Aidan O'Neil and Alfonso Serrano are our two most talented youth players and they have just been promoted to the first team. They will be needed when Nyambe and Sisto leave the club next month.

Rovers claim narrow win at Old Trafford

On Sunday 5th December we played Manchester United with Clasie and Chalobah replacing Besic (who is banned for one match) and Matic (who is still injured) and with Duelund as attacking midfielder again. And although we weren't exactly steamrolling, we did secure a tight win at Old Trafford!

Man Utd have a great team and some of our lads were struggling today, but Di Bari is worth his weight in gold to our hopes of a title challenge and with seven minutes on the clock he found the net after a superb solo effort to silence the home crowd!

The early goal was a boost for our lads' confidence and when Duelund doubled our lead soon afterwards by rifling the ball in low with his left we definitely looked invincible, but the truth is that Man Utd were anything but beaten!

They soon created a couple of chances. Schneiderlin drove the ball low towards the goal but Steele saved and held the ball well. Imbula outjumped Van Beek and powered a header towards goal but Steele let the ball run free and Duelund cleared it from danger and so we withheld the pressure.

Nevertheless, Apkoguma, Wahlqvist, Surez and Mahrez were all struggling as Man Utd put us under pressure and Van Beek, Wahlqvist and Clasie all picked up a yellow card so in the second half we brought on Henley for Wahlqvist, but Man Utd were the stronger team now and eventually we could no longer withhold the pressure. Martial dribbled past Van Dijk and fed Depay who scored his fifth goal of the season.

Now with half an hour remaining things looked a bit shaky. Martial skipped past Van Dijk again and looked for Joo Mrio in the penalty area. Joo Mrio hit a fierce shot but it came back off the crossbar! Schneiderlin picked up the loose ball, but Akpoguma made an important challenge!

Joo Mrio had another opportunity when Carvajal found him with a weighted pass into the area. He shot hard and low but Steele gathered the ball safely.

We had one last scoring chance but Mahrez sent the ball inches wide of the goal and then the final whistle was blown!

So yes, another shock away win! And although our full-backs (including Henley, who replaced Wahlqvist in the second half) played below par, our central defenders were superb today. Van Beek was named Man of the Match.

Ans what's more, Duelund also played at the top of his form again.
    Spoiler!

We really do seem unstoppable this season! And equally remarkably, Everton are now the ones chasing us!

    Spoiler!

Next we'll play Wigan in the EFL Cup Quarter Final. A good opportunity to rest some of our key players again. Also, Van Beek will be banned for this one match.

Could have gone either way, but again Di Bari!

Whenever he plays, you win can't lose it seems.
