    No natural DMC for Spurs.

Aguero could have a field day against Andre Gomes if he's on his game.

Gonna be a tough one. You'd be very happy to come away with a draw. Especially a score draw for the away goal.

Good win in a mad game

Praet shouldn't miss too much as you may rotate in FA Cup anyway

Wow - vey goo spurs attacking unit - no idea who the defenders are though so get 'em on the back foot!

Hoping for a couple of cup wins now!

    Rovers vs Spurs ends undecided

On Wednesday 26th January we played Tottenham Hotspur in the EFL Cup Semi Final 1st Leg and we were hoping for a draw but we also wanted an away goal. After all, if the aggregate scores in semi-finals are still level at the end of extra time the tie shall be decided by goals scored away from home counting twice.

And we got exactly what we ordered!

In fact, we got our away goal before Spurs had their first shot on target! Wahlqvist skipped past Gomes and crossed the ball low and hard from the left and Chalobah elegantly controlled the ball and drove it at goal to score the opener!

Ten minutes later Mahrez fired the ball in low and hard to try and double our lead but the post denied him!

But then Spurs seized control of the midfield and Sissoko had the first scoring chance. Silva centred the ball and Sissoko got up to head at goal but Lszl gathered the ball safely.

In the second half Spurs continued to attack and McNally had the first chance. He drove the ball at goal but Lszl did well to turn it away. Sissoko half-volleyed the ball on his right foot, but he put it over the bar. Larsson smashed the ball towards the top corner and Lszl saved although he could not hold onto it. However, Van Dijk cleared the ball and so we withheld the pressure.

We brought on Serrano for Mahrez and we nearly made it, but with just seven minutes remaining Sissako passed the ball from 25 yards out ahead of Kane in the area. Kane was left unmarked and he hit a strong shot and scored his fifth goal of the season! A bit of a letdown for us, but better than a 0-0 draw.

Our forward line were less than impressive, but a superb Ferenc Lszl was named Man of the Match and thanks to our goalkeeper we are now in more than a decent position for the return leg!
    Spoiler!

Forgot that was a cup game at first, was thinking it's two points dropped in the league

But it's a good result as it is a cup game! Away goal too

    Samsami Sungo leaving Rovers?

Is Rovers manager Samsami Sungo about to leave the club who are currently leading the Premier League and still in the EFL Cup and the FA Cup as well as in the Europa League?

Are the Dutch manager's priorities elsewhere as he is involved in helping the national team to qualify for the 2020 UEFA European Championship which will be hosted by multiple cities across Europe?

According to some sources the manager has indicated that this would be his final season with Rovers, but then again he resigned from Southampton after winning the Premier League only to come back and help them achieve success in Europe. Still, at that time he was not involved with the national team.

    More news later.

As your colleague and fellow manager at the national team of Holland, I completely understand if you make this decision.

But as fan of your work at Blackburn Rovers, I would be devestated to see you leave.

    Tough call.

    Bolton Wanderers vs Blackburn Rovers

As we prepare to play Bolton Wanderers in the FA Cup 4th Round Besic is available again. However, Clasie and Praet are still injured while Akpoguma and Mahrez are on international duty.

So with both Praet and Mahrez unavailable we will have Surez and Duelund start as wingers with Agero playing behind Di Bari. Hopefully this will result in our forward line scoring the goals we need.

Lszl will again be our goalkeeper for this Cup match.

As to our opponents, Bolton Wanderers have a fairly strong team but we should be able to defeat them, especially if Di Bari finds his form again!

Mauro Di Bari unhappy at Rovers?

As it turns out, not only their manager but also the star striker of Blackburn Rovers might be on the verge of leaving the club.

Mauro Di Bari scored goal after goal in his first season at Rovers, in fact 23 goals from 28 appearances, but that has come to a grinding halt. Di Bari has not scored a single goal in his last three games for the club.

And it is now clear what the reason is. The potential world-class striker finds it hard to get use to the English lifestyle or more likely the English climate!

Rumors are that Di Bari wants to return to Italy and the young goalscoring machine should have little difficulty finding a new club in his home country!

Solid away draw where you were second best but an important away goal could be vital

Balls - bad news on Di Bari but no point sending him away in the risk he may not come back

I think youll leave if you win the league

    Muniain only makes their bench.

    Interesting decision.

And di Bari is going nowhere!! Unless 50m + 25% future fee is agreed!

Toothless Rovers advance in FA Cup

On Saturday 29th January we played Bolton Wanderers in the FA Cup 4th Round at the Macron Stadium and we never allowed them to get anywhere near our goalkeeper, but our forward line were toothless again so that it was Chalobah who managed to score the deciding goal!

We attempted fourteen shots on goal, nine of them on target, while Bolton never produced a single a shot on goal. But for the fourth game in a row Di Bari failed to find the net and when our striker has a dip we are toothless.

In the second half we brought on Chalobah for Wanyama because he had been shown a yellow card and it took our defensive midfielder just six minutes to find the net! Duelund centred the ball from the right and Wahlqvist flicked it back for Chalobah who showed good control as he fired the ball in low and hard and scored the opener!

There were several more attempts on goal, especially by Surez and Di Bari, but they were not successful.

So with our forward line failing to find the net Chalobah, who only played in the second half, was named Man of the Match!
    Spoiler!

We drew Sunderland in the FA Cup 5th Round, but for now we shall need to focus on the Premier League again as we will be playing Norwich City at Carrow Road next.

    Good stuff.

Could have been more clinical but Hennessy stuck in a fine performance

Bolton never in it - not even 1 shot

    Complete shut out.
Not even a shot for them. Very workmanlike performance.

    Di Bari very quiet though.

    Norwich City vs Blackburn Rovers

Norwich City have a decent team and like most of our opponents this season they will be playing us with two strikers. Knowing how well we play defensively that might seem like a necessary thing to do, but it can also be extremely risky as it weakens their midfield!

Clasie and Praet are still injured and Akpoguma and Mahrez are still on international duty. And because Di Bari is struggling to find his form we decided to have Duelund start as striker and Surez and Serrano as wingers.

Hopefully if we give Di Bari rest he will soon find his form again!

Interesting to see almost all of your opponents changing their favourite formation into another one when they play against you.

Yes. Of course I'd like to think that the reason is that they are impressed with us!

Rift between Sungo and Di Bari?

Apparently there has been some kind of feud between Blackburn Rovers manager Samsami Sungo and the club's striker Mauro Di Bari, which shows no sign of ending soon.

It seems that Di Bari has been saying for months now that he wants to leave the club, but he has a contract for five more years after the current season ends and there's no release clause of any kind. And apparently Sungo is not willing to let their goal-machine go.

Remarkably, Mikkel Duelund will play as striker for Rovers against Norwich City. The manager literally said: "Because Di Bari is struggling to find his form we decided to have Duelund start as striker." But is that the real reason? Or is there a serious problem between the manager and his star striker?

So we visited Ewood Park to try and interview either the manager or the player - but we were not given permission for even a short interview and the staff refused to comment.

So what is going on at Ewood Park?
