I'm racking my brains what they did when we played them (and won) the FA Cup Final a few years back (our only trophy) and I think they DID play reserves in the final as well!

Let's hope so - although be sweeter to win it when they play the full strength team!

    Time to catch up again

An easy win away at Boro to setup that record 10 wins on the bounce, Koumas has been class this season.

A solid win over Lazio as well, that should be a quarter final place all but sorted now barring a disaster, shame about the injury to Pizarro though, especially with some big games on the horizon.

Hard luck on going out of the FA Cup, away at Man Utd is probably as tough a draw as you could get, but a chance to concentrate on the other three competitions you are in.

Back-to-back defeats with the loss at Lazio, shame you couldn't secure qualification but with a five point lead over Marseille with two games left it'd take something not to go through still. More injury worries too, maybe Lucas can come in from the cold to give you something to think about.

A narrow win over Newcastle, but they all count and always nice to get back to winning ways, and a little bit of a gap at the top now. Fowler smashing it for Espanyol

Liverpool away definitely the priority and with a 2-0 lead from the first leg no surprise you rung the changes for the second leg of the League Cup Semi Final, Lucas and Inzaghi is a strike force that looked a million miles away about a month ago Great to see the veterans Inzaghi and Figo seal the deal, while Lucas skippered the side. Hopefully a chance for revenge against Utd in the final, although they did batter Coventry, be it with a second string side.

Well done on another Manager of the Month award as well.

Koumas has indeed been immense - a shock to me. His att's are good but not top class - he's playing out of his skin!

Huge win over Lazio - very much marred by Pizarro - real gutter for another who was on fine form

Man U won the game in first half and some team they have and away. 2nd half we gave it a go but all too late. Given where we are in league could be a good thing

Lazio loss was tough to take but we've been lucky with group results - still should be a disaster if we dont wualify - injuries racking up and Lucas gets his chance soon!

Newcastle was VERY important - 2 point gap is great with Pool slipping up! Fowler

Very odd strikeforce and Inzaghi has fallen right down pecking order! Final will be tough but if 2nd string i'd be fecked off if we didn't beat them

All about the big game next........

Can you not look back on your season history? Depends how many games you store.

Good to see the old timers get a run and get you through!

It’ll be in here anyway if he goes back to the relevant page, Utd fielding a weakened side does ring a bell though.

Here's the team - can't believe how much we have changed!

    Not 1 player remains

It’s a HUGE game next between 2 teams in superb form and 1st and 2nd in the league. This is really what you call a “six pointer”………………

Swansea v Liverpool at fortress Anfield – Liverpool have the best home form in the league

    Swans have more players unavailable

    The atmosphere is electric…………

    Who will be victorious?

Away to Liverpool in the League – we need a positive result here!

We win and we go 5 clear, we lose and Liverpool leapfrog us – would we take a draw now?

    Team News

Ajax in CL in 3 days time but we go as strong as we can here

Delaney is ineligible for next game so gets a bench spot.

Lescott fills in at left back in place of Finnan

    The Game

"One of the finest matches of the season – action packed – but how did it end up?!”

There is a goal in the 2nd minute!

We have scored very early in a lot of our recent games!

But is it our goal this time?

    Spoiler!

    What’s next?!

    Spoiler!

It’s a brilliant first half following that first bit of action and both teams are hammer and tong creating lots of chances!

3 bookings in 10 mins to defenders (2 for us and 1 for Pool) as there is no letting up on 50/50 challenges!

But one of those 50/50 challenges is deemed a foul as John Terry barges Koumas in the back – PENALTY FOR SWANSEA!

    Simon Davies steps up………………..

    Spoiler!

Then on the stroke of half time, Andrea Pirlo strikes a free kick and it’s a beauty………….

    Spoiler!

Bellamy has a knock at HT but playing well so I leave him carry on

A couple of subs after 60 minutes are made as Jones is playing within himself on a booking and Bowyer (again) is not having a good game. O’Donnell and Mulryne on – what a game this is to come into for 22 year old O’Donnell!

Just 2 minutes later and ANOTHER PENALTY is given and this time a RED CARD and it’s for………..

    Spoiler!

And the result of the spot kick is that it’s ………….

    Spoiler!

In an interesting move after 66 minutes, Heskey drops in midfield and Robben replaces him up top - maybe trying to use pace to get at us

    And is it a masterstroke?

    Spoiler!

    But then………..

    Spoiler!

    Then in the remaining minutes………………………

    Spoiler!

Well, what a fecking game that was for the neutral!

Here’s the match stats and how the table looks after that – one of the games of the season!

    Spoiler!

Definitely a point saved after being reduced to 10 men, was interfering even a thing back when the game was released?

Weird one. 1 up at HT but yes I’ll take the point especially losing with 10 men!

    I made the ‘interference’ up

It just said Jones was offside but before that he was not even mentioned near the play - must have made a lung bursting run and got in the way somehow - I was baffled by the decision and just think the officials ‘bottled it’

Belter - it was one I had ‘very slow’ commentary on I was enjoying so much

Would have happily taken a point before game

Utd close the gap though . . .

Well, the most important thing was to avoid defeat and you did that!

Referee took the headlines though with the disallowed goal, penalty and red card! What an awful time to have a man sent off!

Yep - defeat avoided but I was very confident at HT of a win!

    Ref robbed us

Wanted it to be all about him in a game that was televised worldwide!

    Jack to a King? – A Swansea City Story – by Redknapp69

Small mercies but he’s still banned for 3 games

Away to Ajax in Amsterdam in Gameweek 5 – let’s get qualified please!

An easy trip there for the fans and they enjoy themselves!

But this is a team that has developed some unbelievable players…………

And it’s somewhat “interesting” when we get to the stadium!

    Team News

After 6 weeks away at African Nations where Ivory Coast lost the final to Nigeria, Kolo Toure is BACK!

91% fit but he’s straight in partnering Stam at the back

Inzaghi starts in place of Bellamy

Hartson back fit and on bench in place of Figo

    Mulryne replaces Bowyer

While GEORGE BOATENG comes onto the bench as he used to play for Ajax’s rivals FEYENOORD

    The Game

"Away clean sheet in Amsterdam but still not enough to clinch qualification!”

Very even first half with Ajax knowing they have to win

Both teams create chances but Ajax finish the half stronger

We exert some dominance 2nd and bring fresh energy in Bellamy, Boateng (who gets properly stuck in!) and Hartson

We end up managing the game nicely for a point

Unsure if it’s enough to qualify though

Ajax keeper did well to keep us out 2nd half

    Spoiler!

Marseille with a huge shock beating Lazio which means if they beat us in last game things could be VERY interesting!

Shame you couldn’t get the win, you should still be alright, but could have done without Marseille beating Lazio too.
