Tough defeat. Only a handful of games ago, you'd lost just one all season and now you've lost four. Crazy stuff. Doesn't look great, you were given a second chance to catch up and failed to take it
The elder statesman was for a reason young Marko - to have the expereince of CL and push us on which we've done. Also to add to squad depth QUALITY

But it's like an OAP's home now

    Bugger of a loss

I don't even want to go back earlier and season and see how many pointers we were ahead either

But hey - we're in CL Semi Final so that has worked in 1 aspect!

Feies looks like a busted flush as been real poor since his blistering start

Vittek has generally been very good and getting his goals - just an off day maybe

Bring on Barca now - better not be like last night's game IRL

Home to Barcelona in 1st leg of Champions League Semi Final!!

    They have a fine squad………

    fallout 4 vault stories

    Team News

It’s a VERY familiar looking team

Only real thing to call out is bringing Rustico back into central defence

We have a league game in 3 days time but this is now the priority given league is probably gone

    The Game

"Barca take full advantage of a terrible 1st half from the hosts to put them firmly in the driving seat of this tie….!!"

Pretty awful first half from us and Barca RIGHT AT IT

And Barca score TWO goals before HT, and Yury at fault for both of them

Firstly Cole gets ahead of him to score he first then he can only parry a Tymoscuk shot for Saviola to tap home the 2nd

So – HT and him and Rustico are having poor games and Lee Andrews has a niggle as well!

Barca seem happy to hold what they have but we open the game back up as Symes gets a goal back with a header from Kean’ cross

We have another couple of opportunities as do Barca on the counter as the first leg ends 2-1 to Barcelona and they are in control now…..

Klose lead the line well for them

    Spoiler!

Liverpool with a good home win over Bayern in other game

    Injury News

Ferreira hasn’t performed when given the chance and I’ll likely look to flog him at EOS as well………

While it’s a month out for young starlet WELSHman Morgan

On the positive side, yoiung Owen has had good feedback from the coaches

Ay ay ay, again! And ouch!

A messy (no pun intended) end to the season this seems to be, although it's not over yet and neither is the race for the title decided yet.

Will Yuri play in the return, though, I wonder???

And what was Meulensteen thinking? As if you'd care, right now!

It's all a bit grim at the moment. Tough decisions to be made over who plays in goal for the run-in.

VERY grim - right at the wrong time!

Yury will be "rested" for the next game (League)............

Sticky patch shall we call it

We have to fight a LOT know on both fronts to win either

Unsure on Yury but he won't play next game v Bolton in League

Rene has his eye on next season already by looks of it telling me to promote the WELSH youth!

Indeed - no bad thing given it's a sombre mood at the moment

But no time for that - let's pick ourselves up and have a belter end to the season

No disgrace to lose against this Barcelona side.

Since I guess they dominated the midfield, will you try to surprise them in the return leg, for instance by playing normal instead of attacking and with direct passing ?

Yury just had a shocker TBH in 1st half - prob not much in the game apart from that

Good option on tactics - I am AWFUL at tactics and rarely tweak - I do use different formations and maybe change passing or mentality but that's about it

Let's hope we can do a "(hopefully!) Liverpool style comeback in 2nd leg!

Home to 19th place Bolton who need to win last 2 games to stay up!

    huntington bank near my location

They have Liam Rosenior (son of Leroy) playing for them. He’s now coaching Brighton U23’s in real life as well as being a Sky Sports pundit mainly focusing on the Championship!

    Team News

Barcelona 2nd leg in 4 days

I COMPLETELY rotate the team and it’s a funny looking team

I even give games to Brian Shaw who has done well of late in reserves and Danny Williamson is back from loan where he was superb – but it was a lower level

The board are not happy with O’Donnell and as he doesn’t want to sign a deal I’ll probably cash in on him – so a good opportunity for Williamson to show he has a future!

Tsigalko is also rested as well – Langfield gets a game

Should be good enough to beat Bolton at home but in some ways it does look like I’m throwing the league with this selection!

    The Game

"A comfortable win for 2nd string against relegation candidates Bolton !!"

Mangled them first half with 67% possession and 7 shots, all on target – and they have ZERO

    It’s like total football!

And we get the goal our game deserves just before HT as Vittek finishes off a fine move assisted by Feies

Shaw and Williamson both booked and not really taken chance – replaced by Davids and Henchoz

The pace of 2nd half shows as we just manage it well before making game safe by a Pisani volley! Feck knows how he was so free (prob as nobody expected him to roam into the box) but a fine ball to him by Tevez

A welcome win – but likely too little, too late……..

Good ‘ol team performance and Vittek MOM

    Spoiler!

Man Utd win in a tight game with Newcastle – feck it

Did what you needed to do.

Need to do it three more times in the league though. And then it still will probably only get you second!

    Indeed

If we win all 3 then if Utd draw we SHOULD be ahead of them on GD I would have thought

    But - looks very unlikely

Away to Barcelona in Champions League – Semi Final – 2nd Leg!

And by fook, do we have a job to do here!

Our fans have made the trip in hope rather than expectation but are enjoying themselves before they get to the ground!

    Team News

Yury thinks he was unfairly treated from 1st leg and confidence is very low – Langfield came in and a clean sheet and will remain between the sticks

Well – we need at LEAST 2 goals here so I play attacking full backs in Hargreaves and Pisani (on the back of his wonder volley last game!). The ever present Lee Andrews is on the bench

Solid but skilful midfield of Davies, Bowyer and Pizarro while Keane and Symes lead the line

No DM replacement on bench as a load it with attacking options!

    The Game

"An honourable draw in the Nou Camp but it’s the end of the road for the Jacks in the Champions League!"

Great start for the Swans as we come out of the blocks with great intent

We’re unlucky to not open the scoring as Keane’s effort shaves the post

As the half goes on Barca come into it……………and then the hammer blow – they score

Veron takes an outswing corner and Joe fecking Cole blasts one home from outside the are very much akin to this

45 minutes and we need at LEAST 2 goals

Pizarro fooked with an injury so Bellamy replaces

As one pundit predicted "LucasGills" the Swans do indeed change tactic going normal mentality and “mixed” passing

Well, it makes little difference as Barcelona control the game

There is a late flash of action though but it’s a RED CARD for Rustico (who just came on as sub!) as he brings down Saviola and is last man

Bizarrely, in the last minute, Marinho scores his first ever Swansea goal from Bellamy’s corner but it’s too little, too late

Good effort from the lads though and Langfield justified his inclusion

    Spoiler!

While Bayern batter Liverpool but the Reds squeak through

    Suspension News

Rustico may have played his last game for the club in all honesty. However, he does have 1 year left on contract (and low wage) so maybe I’ll just keep him as LB backup next season – he still has crazy att’s tho!

    Injury News

Season over for him as well

I love Pizarro but injuries are taking their toll on him

And the irony of it all is that if this had been the first leg Marinho's goal would have been worth a million pounds - or so we would have thought!

Haha these "pundits" are all crap

I proposed direct passing though, not mixed. I never play with mixed.

    Good result anyway at Barcelona.

The tie was lost at Swansea. But in the end it was decided by a single goal.

All fair points - a reasonable effort but as you say - maybe too much to do after that 1st leg
