It probably feels like two points dropped.

You created more chances with ten men, too.

Still, it's a decent result in an away game and with ten men.

Strange one, could be a glass half empty or half full scenario for sure

Surprised Yury started, thought Langfield was making a name for himself at the end of last season.

You feel even though away - it's a team we should beat

For me - it's 2 points dropped especially when I'm prioritising the legaue this year

Yury has many a year of fine service behind him - Langfield will be ready to take his place as and when. But for sure Langifled will play cups and maybe even CL games

First home game of the season against Sunderland!

Sunderland have a couple of CM “wonderkids” in Marvin Andrews and Matthew Piper!

    Team News

Feies and Koumas come into CM

Arsenal away in 4 days time and Vieira will be rotated with Club Captain Matthew Jones for this game

Lee Andrews replaces the banned Hargeaves

    The Game

"A home win, but we were made to work very, very hard for it!

Brilliant first half for the neutral. Action everywhere!

Swans edge it on chances created but we fall behind to Ferrini who smashes a volley home!

Thankfully, just before HT, Feies plays a ball into Vaughan who centres it and Symes taps home to equalise!

Bang – straight after HT and Keane scores after Jones plays him in – order restored at the Vetch Field!

But in the 67th minute Gamst Pederson chips to far post where Comandini powers a header home to level it!

But the Swans are not to be deterred as it’s Keane the provider this time as he lifts it over the defence as Symes gets the winner!

Keane with a goal and assist is the MOM in front of a full house!

    Spoiler!

Man Utd top the table but they got VERY lucky today as Newcastle should have got something bar a poor GK performance

Champions League Draw – Phase 1

Will take that – looks like a reasonable group and no long journeys!

We played Sporting Lisbon in pre-season as well!

    Oh…………..my……………………..days!

    It’s only…………

    Spoiler!

Didn't know the sell-on clause could apply to yourself

Good offensive performance. Now the season has really started

Haha well the sell on cause covered the loss you would have made on him

Something different for the updates over the weekend……….

A quick trip down memory lane to see how the players released by the Swans over the years have got on since……….

Here are those we sold/released OVER THREE years ago

Looks like a MASSIVE clear out we had that season – some club legends there as well!

Of those that have departed, some have now retired such as…………

Julian Alsop – A striker that tore up the lower divisions for us but when we got to Championship level (I think) he was found wanting a bit. Great signing though for what he did for us – lethal!
Gabriel Francsico Schurrer – IIRC he was an elder statesman central defender. More of a squad player who came in as and when but didn’t pull any trees up
Steven Pressley – Tough tackling RB and natural leader but he disappointed me in all honesty. A move that didn’t work out for either of us

    Justin Bowler

    Swansea Career?

Signed as a youth player on a FREE

Was with us for 5 years but failed to develop in my time

Sold for FREE to Hucknall Town – I wonder if this fella owns them

    What’s he done since?

Done ok – seems a squad player but he should be getting better “numbers”

Was I correct to sell him? (Yes/No/Maybe)

    Hell yeah!

What’s he up to “In Real Life” I hear you ask?!

Played for a few non-league clubs until 2006 but seems to have gone out of the game

    Antonio Conte

    Swansea Career?

Signed on a FREE (I believe) as a Player/Coach for us

Was with us for 2 seasons and very much a backup player. Did ok when he came on with his experience but nothing more. Helped off the field with his coaching though so sort of paid off as a move

Released and then a month later was picked up by Napoli as a Scout – and been there ever since!

    What’s he done since?

Scouting at Napoli for 3 years – seems happy enough!

Was I correct to sell him? (Yes/No/Maybe)

Playing wise – certainly – and I had coaches/scouts with better att;s than him

What’s he up to “In Real Life” I hear you ask?!

Won the League with Chelsea using his famous 343 system

About to take over the Inter Milan job in the coming days by the sounds of it!

    David Graham

    Swansea Career?

Signed for a song from Torquay

Spent 4 years with the mighty Swans. Had some random but brilliant attributes! He didn’t fit perfectly in my formation but he was a goal machine for 2 years with us

As we climbed the leagues he struggled a bit (although to be fair maybe I didn’t play him in best position) but we made a fine profit on him when he was sold to Leicester for £1.6m!

    What’s he done since?

Into his 5th year at Leicester now. They are in the Championship at the moment

He’s played regular though. Could argue his numbers should be better

Was I correct to sell him? (Yes/No/Maybe)

Unsure – think if I earmarked his best position he certainly had the potential (as he proved) to be a cracker

    gif upload

What’s he up to “In Real Life” I hear you ask?!

Made a good career for himself and had a load of clubs!

    Even played for Scotland U21’s

    Trevor Benjamin

    Swansea Career?

    Signed on a Bosman!

Lightening fast, good att’s but again maybe a player that didn’t fit my formation. Only really had sub appearance and didn’t offer much

Sold to Wimbledon in Division 1 for 40k and a 25% future fee

    What’s he done since?

Was awesome in his first 2 seasons there. Seems to have lost his place since

Worth £775k – be nice if he did move as we’d get a tickle!

Was I correct to sell him? (Yes/No/Maybe)

Probably – but maybe if I played him in his preferred position he could have flourished – we’ll never know!

    gif upload

What’s he up to “In Real Life” I hear you ask?!

    More clubs than Jack Nicklaus!

Seems to have his own academy though

    Tom Wilkinson

    Swansea Career?

    A 30k youngster “punt”

Did well with his opportunities in season 1 and we had some hopes for his talent. But then it just didn’t happen for him after that. Hen then didn’t kick on with reserve football either unfortunately

Was released on a free to Division 1 Scunthorpe

    What’s he done since?

Again, did well in first seasons but then struggled. After a few years now with Stockport in Division 1

It seems like he’s a 1 season wonder as he’s done well starting off with him – can his mentality change though?

Was I correct to sell him? (Yes/No/Maybe)

    Yeah – not consistent enough!

What’s he up to “In Real Life” I hear you ask?!

He played for a couple of clubs but sustained an injury that forced him to retire from professional football in June 2007.

He’s now a physio in real life

Some memorable names indeed in there, Michael Jack for one!

Kolo Wonder how long it'll take before he throws his toys out of his pram again.

Ah - we loved Michael Jack - still reckon he could do a job now

Hoping Kolo has learned the error of his ways!

    Darren Powell

    Swansea Career?

Signed on a Bosman from Crystal Palace. T’was at a time when we struggled with DC’s and needed cover, quality etc

Did ok when he played. Was bought as a backup DC and did that job well

Couldn’t turn down a £525k offer a year later though as he packed his bags to Charlton

    What’s he done since?

Hasn’t played much over the years but found a few clubs – seems like he was always the bridesmaid maybe

Was I correct to sell him? (Yes/No/Maybe)

Tough one – but I’d have to say yes. Has some good att’s but given he’s never been first choice anywhere I’d say I was correct to sell him

What’s he up to “In Real Life” I hear you ask?!

Had a good club career with decent clubs – last known as an Academy coach at Crystal Palace where it all started!

    Dean Shiels

    Swansea Career?

Signed on a Bosman on a youth deal

Never really got a chance in 1st team but did well in reserves and developed into a decent young player

But as we climbed the divisions, he found it tough to get first team action and was sold to Fulham for £110k

    What’s he done since?

    He’s done “ok” at Fulham

Had his chances and to be fair has scored goals – and you can se why with his att’s

Was I correct to sell him? (Yes/No/Maybe)

I have a tinge of regret here. Has fine att’s and who know how he could have done with a run in the first team

I would like to have turned the clock back………

    gif upload

What’s he up to “In Real Life” I hear you ask?!

Played most of his footie in Scotland and Ireland (now playing for Coleraine in Ireland!)

Had a 4 year spell at Rangers and scored goals wherever he has gone

But he didn’t have a great time in Scotland………..

    Wayne Routledge

    Swansea Career?

Signed for £45k under our “real life Swan” policy

Never played for us and lacked the quality and didn’t develop in reserves

Let him go for on a free to Non League Bournemouth

    What’s he done since?

Like a man possessed at Bournemouth and is loving life on the coast!

    Banging them in everywhere!

Was I correct to sell him? (Yes/No/Maybe)

Yeah – let’s remember the league he is in where he’s doing this – Outside of the Top 4 divisions

What’s he up to “In Real Life” I hear you ask?!

He’s been at Swansea in real life for the last EIGHT years

He’s won the League Cup and only in the last couple of days just signed a new 1 year deal – looks like he’s pretty happy!

    Lee Jenkins

    Swansea Career?

Was already at the club when I took over! An ORIGINAL SWAN

Was great for me – ridiculous numbers in first season as he was our creative force. Was then more of a squad player but never let me down

We agreed he should leave at the end of his contract where he could pick and choose his next move – the other side of the M4 to Brentford!

    What’s he done since?

Bit of a squad player at Brentford and now at Carlisle – both in Division 1

Still providing numbers and a few years left in the tank

Was I correct to sell him? (Yes/No/Maybe)

Yeah – seems like Championship was probably the best level he could get to – having a good career though

What’s he up to “In Real Life” I hear you ask?!

Left Swansea in 2003 and fell down the leagues and played in Welsh footie until he retired

He earned 12 under 21s caps playing alongside the likes of Craig Bellamy, Simon Davies, Danny Gabbidon and Rob Earnshaw!

    Steffan Iversen

    Swansea Career?

Was involved in a massive part exchange deal where him and Ledley King came to Swansea and Darius Vassell went the other way

Failed to settle and perform in a bit of a disaster move for him. Bizarre really given his qualities

Flogged a year later to Lille for £1.8m

    What’s he done since?

Done really well at Lille – basically a 1 in 2 ration

Surprised that he was left to go on a Bosman to Sedan

Had a crazy season there last year

Was I correct to sell him? (Yes/No/Maybe)

Could he have got his confidence back? Should I have given him more of a run?

Undoubtably talented but at the time we needed people hitting the ground running

    gif upload

What’s he up to “In Real Life” I hear you ask?!

Finished off his career back in his Danish homeland

Bizarrely now looks like a dead ringer for Gordon Ramsey

    Phil Bradshaw

    Swansea Career?

Signed for 230k when we were scratching around for DC’s

    Talented but never convinced me

Had a fine offer that was far too good to turn down in £1.5m!

    What’s he done since?

Remained at Coventry and done ok – but has never locked down that first team spot

Starting to hit make or break in his career…………

Was I correct to sell him? (Yes/No/Maybe)

Aye – hasn’t built on his potential or manager’s haven’t had the confidence in him

What’s he up to “In Real Life” I hear you ask?!

Feck knows – he’s a regen so doesn’t exist IRL!

Yes - I had high hopes for Bradsahw (A bit like Pugh and Shaw in our squad now) but he didn't force himself through enough and when he did - I was not convinced he could "make it"

    Michael Jack

    Swansea Career?

Bought for 30k from Carlisle as we like some key att’s he had like flair and off the ball

Was IMMENSE for me for a couple of seasons – LOVED an assist!

Had a poor last season with us as we climbed the leagues and we were offered a 10 times profit on from Hibs!

    What’s he done since?

Bizarrely got feck all game time up in Scotland – not sure why they bought him!

But they doubled their money as well and since he has been brilliant at Orient who are in the Championship

Was I correct to sell him? (Yes/No/Maybe)

Unsure – he’s now doing it in the Championship

A bit mecurial and sometimes jekkyl and hyde but no doubting his quality – I’d like to see how he would have done for us in the Prem

    gif upload

What’s he up to “In Real Life” I hear you ask?!

Can’t find any data on him since he was at Carlisle in 2004 – must have fallen out of the football world – shame ☹

    James Thomas

    Swansea Career?

Was at the club when I took over

LEGEND – was my main striker and smashed them in for a number of years

We accumulated a boatload of quality strikers and I deemed them better than him – and Thomas was WELSH as well!

Sold for a big £3.1m fee (and 25% future fee)

    What’s he done since?

Continued being a fine goalscorer for Hull

Should have played for Wales more but got 3 in 12 for them

Was I correct to sell him? (Yes/No/Maybe)

    NOPE

WELSH so should have kept him for that!

But what a goalscorer he is

I doubted he could do it in the Premier league – I think I made a mistake

What’s he up to “In Real Life” I hear you ask?!

    He’s an Paramedic now!

But he will NEVER be forgotten by Swansea fans when he scored a HAT TRICK in the final game of 2002/2003 to keep them in the League

    https://www.swanseacity.com/news/whe...w-james-thomas

    Leon Britton

    Swansea Career?

Was signed under my real life Swan policy – dropped a whopping £675k on him

Had pretty poor att’s and didn’t get better when he was at the club with us!

Took a hit and let him go to Mansfield on a free

    What’s he done since?

Remained at Mansfield and played a staggering amount of games – not great results though!

Mansfield are in Division 2 (bottom league)

Was I correct to sell him? (Yes/No/Maybe)

Definitely based on his att’s and how he has done since

What’s he up to “In Real Life” I hear you ask?!

    Swansea LEGEND

Possible the finest ever player to pull on a Swansea shirt

He was with the club for SEVENTEEN years!

Has had spells as coach, caretaker manager (!) and is currently a club ambassador

But just this week he has been promoted to “Football Advisor” with Alan Curtis

    Callum Davidson

    Swansea Career?

Signed for £1m and could cover LB, DLC and also midfield

Very solid for me and did well over the years

As better quality came in his game time was limited and a £1.5m offer from Barnsley was graciously accepted

    What’s he done since?

Been brilliant for them and still with them where he may finish his career

Was I correct to sell him? (Yes/No/Maybe)

Yeah – solid enough but we started asking our full backs for more quality so he became surplus to requirements

What’s he up to “In Real Life” I hear you ask?!

Remained in the game and finiahed a few years ago playing in Scotland

Since, he’s been a coach at St Johnstone until June 2018, when he became a first-team coach at Stoke City. Davidson linked up with Gary Rowett, who had been his teammate at Leicester. Rowett and Davidson both left Stoke on 8 January 2019.[18]

In February 2019, Davidson became first team coach at Dunfermline Athletic.[19]

Interestingly, he’s a bit skint as well!

    Jamie Redknapp

    Swansea Career?

Alongside John Barnes, one of my favourite ever Liverpool players IRL

And also a reason for my CM 0102 username

Bought for £750k as a midfielder with a superb eye for a pass and Premier League experience

Did well for a season but then lost his legs!

Sold to the bluenoses a year later for half the cost!

    What’s he done since?

After Everton, went to Tranmere and now a coach at Huddersfield – looks more of a physio to me!

Was I correct to sell him? (Yes/No/Maybe)

Yes for the fact his legs were gone and was only needed for 1 season

But just ‘cos he’s one of my favourite players then I have to say maybe 😊

    gif upload

What’s he up to “In Real Life” I hear you ask?!

    “Pundit” on Sky Sports

Did have a red hot wife but now they’ve separated as she wants to do her own thing as she supported him for best part of 20 years while he was playing then a pundit!

His ‘old man was recently “King of the Jungle”

    He’s Frank Lampard’s cousin!

    Aliou Cisse

    Swansea Career?

    Bought for £875k from Brum

Was a brilliant DM for us – lasted a few years and was always 7/10 and got his fair share of goals IIRC

Was a tough decision to let him go but we were well stock at DM and made a profit on him when we was sold for £1.3m

    What’s he done since?

Looks like he was star player for Colorado!

But must have retired soon after

Currently unemployed! (doesn’t have great coaching att’s)

Was I correct to sell him? (Yes/No/Maybe)

Arguable – could still “do a job” when he was sold but was wrong side of 30 and we had a lot of quality and depth in that area

£1.3m for a guy over 30 was never gonna be turned down when he wasn’t guaranteed first choice

What’s he up to “In Real Life” I hear you ask?!

Stayed in England for a few years then back to France

Managed Senegal for 6 years in early 2000’s and now is manager again – he’s been their manager since 2015

    Roger Freestone

    Swansea Career?

Swansea LEGEND was with us when I took over

Remained our goalkeeper for a good 5 years well into his late 30’s

Then was backup keeper for last couple of years

I would have loved to have given him a coaching role but at the time he just wanted to spend family time – but he’s been a club ambassador ever since

    What’s he done since?

Around a year after we released him he started coaching at Leicester – and is still there!

Was I correct to sell him? (Yes/No/Maybe)

No – I should have made him Assistant Manager or something – ABSOLUTE LEGEND is “BIg Rog”

    flex fuel near me now

What’s he up to “In Real Life” I hear you ask?!

Freestone had a short-lived stint as manager at Swansea along with Nick Cusack. He then managed a youth side, Risca & Gelli United in the Islwyn Youth League.

Freestone left Swansea City in 2004 to return to his first club Newport County, but Injuries restricted him to just 14 appearances and he retired from playing at the end of that year.
"I was playing part-time for Newport County and also working for Tuffnells as a delivery driver," explains Freestone on how he got into his current career back in 2004. "It was a good friend of mine, who is a big Chelsea fan, that offered me the job I've been doing ever since.

"It was always important to me to get a job after playing. My typical day involves collecting my delivery from a depot five minutes from my house and then head up to my delivery patch around Hereford.

"We deliver all sorts, including things like beds, mattresses, trampolines, you name it! There is a lot of lifting involved and some heavy items at times but I get a lot of satisfaction from what I do."

And here is the main man

Shiels still looks a good player. Some good servants in there, Thomas and Cisse for sure.

Sheils does look quality fair play!

    I made a boo-boo on Thomas

Cisse was a great squad player and vyed for a place with Boateng IIRC

    Interesting recap on those departed.

Also interesting to see Kolo come back. And that the game thinks he's a DMC.

    Oh and Louise.
Man I've loved her since the Eternal days. Had posters of her all over my walls as a kid!

Cheers for the on the recap

Didn't Kolo start off his career at DMC but more widely known especially later on as DC?

Away to Arsenal who have drawn and lost their 2 games so far!

And it feels like we are playing ourselves as Arsenal have a LOT of “Ex Swans” in their squad such as…………

Tom Hesp, Joleon Lescott, Steve Finnan, David Pizarro, Steve Brooker and Darius Vassell

    Team News

Vieira, Davies and Bowyer all back in

While Toure comes straight into the team for Nuno Mata who hasn’t set the world alight in his first 2 games

    The Game

"A brace from Davies gives Swans the points in this very even encounter!

Tentative and quiet half from both sides. Arsenal start the better but we come back into it and finish stronger

Few worries at HT as McCan playing poor and booked which Keane and Bowyer both have niggles. Toure and Tevez ON

A similarly even 2nd half but both teams go for it a little more.

Great stuff as we get a penalty as Symes was brought down by Simonsen – Davies converts!

But once again we concede straight after when Pizarro’s cross gives Senior a headed opportunity which he takes

But that magic man again – Davies is the matchwinner as he powers home a header from a Vieira cross

Arsenal charge late but we thankfully keep hm out

Great impact from Tevez and Davies with 2 goals but Vieira showing his old club what he gone on to become since leaving them

    Spoiler!

Familiar looking 3 towards the top of the table…………

    Post Match Interview

Reporter: Redders - Important to get the win there – real close game

Redders: Yes – fine margins and all that. Thankfully Davies came up with the goods for us

Reporter: Early days of course but how do you see this new tactic? Seem to be conceding more chances?

Redders: Well, it needs to settle in. As do some of the defenders we have brought in. We’ll be sticking for it for a while yet!

Reporter: Talking of defenders, it sounds like the Swans Trust do not agree with you bringing back Kolo Toure?

Redders: Look – I know he put people’s nose out of joint with his departure last time around but he’s a quality DC. I sanctioned this deal and if they felt that bothered about it they could have put a stop to it!

Reporter: Also sounds like they reckon the fans support is waning?

Redders: Well, South Wales will ALWAYS be a Rugby hotspot but we’ve converted people to enjoy both. A full house at our first home game remember. Maybe some fans believe we should be the best club in the world and that’s where we all want to be but let’s not forget our roots either shall we!

    Confirm Transfer OUT

We let Yepes go to Leeds – had a good first year but really struggled last season

No big loss but he certainly did the job we needed from his first season out

    Transfer Window CLOSES

Barcelona test my resolve with a late bid for Tevez who was “content” at the club and now he’s unhappy, while Giggs move to Walsall fall through with the FA not receiving the fax in time!

    Solid win away from home.

Told you it would be interesting with Kolo coming back!!
And now Tevez kicking up a stink.
Is it all going Pete Tong at The Vetch?

Too close for comfort that win

The tactic is worrying me - but it's early doors!

I fee like a 1 man protection shild around Kolo

Tevez offer was tempoting but Vittek still out and he's done well so far in pre-season. Hopefully he'll simmer down and get on with it and we can review in Jan

Word seems to be seeping out I may only have a couple of seasons left - are people taking advantage?

Things are getting a bit messy off the pitch but if you continue the form I the pitch sure it will all work out

Are you still playing the diamond midfield?
