But Theobald might have been a mistake given how he's developed, but on the other hand you have plenty of other quality DC's.

    His atts were already there

De Vulgt - meh - whatever - But - did anyone like the random stat about him?!

Thoebald - If Cardiff didn't play him in past few years then no way he;d make the grade with us!

I like the write-ups about the careers of your former players.

Going very well in the league, particularly in defence. Six clean sheets in a row is very impressive in this game. Could do with scoring a few more, though.

    Thanks for following/commenting

League is going OK so far - Euro qualification would be great if possible but may be a stretch

Prem league has certainly tested our strikers and they havn't hit the gial trail - especially struggling to find right combination. I think John Hartson could be a BEAST in a lone striker but I currently don't play that formation

I was amazed when I saw the clean sheets - Tsigalko in Goal has been a superb signing

Next up is Preston in the EFL Cup – they are in the division below us and doing well but as we’re home I’d hope we progress!

Although they do have the likes of Phil Jagielka and Robin Van Persie!

We freshen up the team given we have a league game in 3 days time

TSIGALKO starts though as he is on Int’l duty for the next game

”Sometimes hard work beats quality – and it did tonight as Swans bow out of the Cup”

Wow – end to end half from both teams going for it

Davidson plays the ball in to Hartson who smashes it home for his FIRST GOAL FOR SWANSEA!

But Preston come right back into the game and get a deserved equaliser before half time pouncing on Tsialgko’s parry

Things then go from bad to worse as Yury gives away a penalty which is converted

We fight for the equaliser but it’s not our day – maybe the team selection was wrong but we’re out of the cup 

    Their “SUPERGREEK” defender was MOM

    Spoiler!

    Europa League 3rd Round Draw

FECK – They have the likes of Kily Gonzalez, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Carsten Jancker and Christian Poulsen

Away to 5th placed Fulham – gonna be a toughie this one

Especially when they are managed by Frank Rijkaard and have Marc Overmars in their ranks!

”Cottagers cream crackered by Super Swans!!”

Strong start to us away from home against a higher opponent!

Then the “pantomime villain” Robbie Savage gets the ball from Cisse and hits an unstoppable volley – what a way to make your 1st start!

Thomas then scores but it’s ruled out as Alexiou is offside 

But it doesn’t phase us as Alexiou put us 2-0 up at HT getting on the end of Savage’s ball

And it gets even better straight in the 2nd half as Alexiou gets a brace and scores from a diving header by Hesp’s cross

We see the game out easily and afforded to make some subs to rest players

Alexiou with a cracking display today

    Spoiler!

Up to the dizzy heights of 3rd!

    Transfer News

    Gutted……….

That's a bad defeat in the cup Should have played your super Greek defender against theirs

Mind you, the supergreek striker came good for the league game!

Shame about Blondel, could have been handy if he became available.

Tough defeat against Preston especially at home, but they put up a good fight so it's not totally undeserved.

But you picked it up against Fulham with a cracking win, well done!

Blondel played for you on a loan last year right? Any reason you didn't go for him in the summer?

    Big blow in the cup

Given we are buying Koumas we couldn't afford Blondel - real shame as we could have bagged him on a Bosman in a couple of months time (and in meantime loaned him when window re-opened)

Preston fought like Tigers - harsh defeat to take

But we came back fighting in a great display v Fulham!

Yeah - Blondel did very well for us late last season on loan

He wanted to fight for Spurs place in summer but thy were not interested in playing him

Then they just kept turning down all our bids (for the money we had available)

Really gutted about that one but we'll keep him on our radar

It's a good deal for Spurs then if his contract was up at the end of the season. Levy strikes again!

    Alexiou again.

Losing to Preston may be a blessing as still in Europe. And FA Cup still to come.

    Transfer News

We agree a deal to leave Matthews go – hasn’t played a game for us and was 1 of a barrage of DC’s we got in the summer – we mutually agree to call it quits with no hard feelings

Gueret is also allowed to leave for free but 25% future fee – only fair to him as he’s been a good clubman over the years even though he ain’t played much!

While Carlisle is also allowed to leave for free with contract expiring – 25% again negotiated though

Finally – Rory May hasn’t done enough in the reserves and we pick up 70 in return plus a 25% future fee

Let me know if you want to screenies for any of them

Home to 7th place WBA next who could overtake us with a win

We have Schalke in 4 days’ time but I go as strong as I can for this game!

”Swans left frustrated in draw against boring Baggies!!”

Bit of a boring 1st half – but we are the only team trying to win this game

No efforts at all from WBA!

Not much happening in 2nd half either so I make attacking subs with Graham and Hartson coming on to try and win this damn game!

But it’s not happening – we’ll have to settle for the point even though we deserve more!

    Alexiou did everything he could!

    Spoiler!

We stay in 3rd but we’ve played more games than all others around us

    West Brom keeping it tight!

Not surprised to see some of the older stalwarts/fringe players allowed to leave. Just the one striker less too

Some good clearing of the squad there and bringing in a little cash which is always nice!

Gutted to not get the win against West Brom. Got a question: do you change anything during games? Like change in mentality? Or do you just keep it as it is all the time?

    Chuffing baggies!

Carlisle and Gueret both good clubmen back in the day but we're on another level now

May was a punt and Matthews was a daft signing when I went overboard with DC's!

Maybe could have got more if I took action earlier

I'm playing "home" formation all the time now

And nope - don't change mentality in the game during matches - sometimes I do in other games but not been doing so in this story

Home to Schalke in the first leg – we need a result here to give us a fighting chance away!

We are up against a team with some cracking players............

Hesp is exhausted, Thomas ineligible but otherwise we go as strong as we can

”I AM ZLATAN – and he puts Swansea to the sword on an unlucky European night"

Really interesting 1st half where we have the best of it and the side looking to go forward where Schalke are happy to counter – and do so dangerously

Some good defending and GK both sides keeps it 0- at HT

Liazarazu has an minor injury so comes off for Davidson

2nd half it is more of the Swans pushing forward but it is those dangerous 2 Kily and Zlatan who combine and Zlatan scores from a diving header!

We push hard for the deserved equaliser but do not get it

Very harsh result but that bit of quality was the difference today

    Superkeepered as well – great……………

    Spoiler!

Next up is away to Sheff Wednesday who are 14th in the table!

Lizarazu rested as we need him for the return leg v Schalke in a few days time

Iversen back in the starting XI

”Is that a barn door? Well – no danger Swans will hit it today!"

It's all Swans in the first half but we cannot get the breakthrough

Sheff Wed haven’t had a shot – let’s not regret this and get the win in the 2nd half!

But the shooting boots are well and truly left at home – we have all the game but don’t test the keeper

    Frustrating day all around……….

Shout out for Cisse who was super in a holding CM role and was given playmake responsibilities

    Spoiler!

In 4th and on reflection an away point isn’t bad but we have to be beating lower half teams

Damn that Ibra did you one, but even more so Frank Rost! An ODB legend for sure!

You needed a response from the team against Sheffield Wednesday, but they failed to perform. There's no excuse for such poor shooting! It's the Premier League FFS!

Hard luck against Schalke. If you put in a similar kind of performance in Germany, you're still in with a chance, but you need to be more clinical. Tsigalko needs to play up front instead of in goal.

That Schalke goal was a right kick in the balls

0-0 would have been fine but we really should have won the game

    But to lose?

    Arggghhhhhhhhhhhh
